Switching design jobs during the pandemic
Switching jobs is in itself a proposition that requires thoughtful planning and action. And especially when one decides to do so during the pandemic. 2020 has to be the most unique year in modern history — so far. The year forced some people out of their jobs, whereas made some realize what matters most is the work-life balance.
The work-burnout became a common phenomenon as working at home and working from home became too much to handle. No matter the condition, people were looking for a job change. Some got lucky and got offered a chance to make a difference through design.
If you spent even 10 minutes on professional networking platforms, you’d realize there were many looking for a chance to work remotely. Among these, there were a few that took the opportunity to give back to society. These evangelists took to their social media accounts, re-tweeted, shared, and gave a wider audience to the people in need of a decent remote design job.
Among companies like InVision, and Dribbble, YUJ Designs also declared opportunities for remote design jobs. YUJ Designs advertised for and hired almost 40+ people from across the globe to work with global, fortune 500 clients. Looking back the decision to hire remote talent has proved to be beneficial for the company.
YUJ Designs also initiated an external referral program called — YUJ-Mitra. The thought behind this initiative is that no company becomes successful in working in silos. Similarly, YUJ Designs can grow with the right support from the design community. By spreading the word and helping YUJ spot the right talent, the design community evangelists can contribute to a designer’s career growth and to YUJ’s growth.
